Things to do in Rhodes

In the north of the island Rhodes Old Town is a maze of cobbled streets lined with shops and restaurants. It has been labelled a UNSESCO World Heritage site and once housed the famous Colossus of Rhodes – one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Close to the old town is Mandraki Harbour, where many of the boat trips and tours available to those on the island depart from. Trips across to the island of Symi and to Marmaris in Turkey are popular.

The Valley of the Butterflies is a great day trip destination, around 30km south west of Rhodes Town, and is filled in the summer with colourful butterflies. The picturesque town of Lindos in the south of the island has the picture perfect whitewashed Greek buildings. There are many tours around Lindos, taking you through the acropolis and the Temple of Athena. Lindos has plenty of bars and restaurants for tourists to sample the famous Greek meze dishes.
